Amid the bustle of President Obama’s surprise stop for barbecue Wednesday the White House apparently overlooked one key detail: the bill.
Celebrating Father’s Day early, the president had lunch with two service members and two local barbers at Kenny’s BBQ on Capitol Hill.
As the group chatted about fatherhood, the president enjoyed a steaming plate of pork ribs with hot sauce, collard greens, red beans and rice and cornbread.
The bill for the president and his four guests was $55.58, but was left unpaid at the point of sale, according to pool reports.
The post title, obviously, is a bit tongue-in-cheek. Clearly, getting the bill paid was a staffer’s responsibility and they screwed up. My understanding is that this person has been reassigned to the National Weather Service Station in Nome, Alaska.

There is NO truth to the rumor that Obama only skipped out after the cashier refused to accept payment in Kenyan shillings…
Bush skipped out on paying for 2 wars, tax cuts for the rich, and medicare part D.

Hell, I didn’t even mention how this came out on the same day Obama trotted out his “the Republicans ate a steak dinner and stuck us with the bill” theme. I guess it was on his mind already…
