Homan Update
Sounds to me like he admitted to taking the bag of cash.

Worth a watch.
If I had not taken a bag of cash and there was a story that I had, I would have stridently rebutted the story. Ingraham even gave him a bit of an opening in the sneering way she mentioned MSNBC. It must be a liberal hoax, right?
Indeed, technically speaking, there is nothing illegal about being given a bag of cash.
As such, he did nothing illegal because the DOJ has quashed the investigation and there will be no prosecution, and therefore no chance of a conviction. Since we are all innocent until proven guilty, he can claim not to have done anything unlawful.
Note that a complex investigation with evidence-gathering and then a formal process to seek an indictment, and a trial to determine guilt ot innocence is this quaint little thing called “due process.”
But it is, to me at least, remarkably damning that he didn’t deny, or try to explain, the bag o’ cash.
Keep in mind that this is the guy who regularly declares all undocumented persons in the country to be “criminals” and dangerous ones at that, without any due process. He facilitates their punishment without the presumption of innocence. Indeed, people like Kilmar Abrego Garcia have documents allowing them to be in the country, and that doesn’t matter.
But, hey, Homan is innocent because he is given not only the courtesy of due process as a general matter, but the great privilege of having allies in the federal government who will make an investigation go away.

“I did nothing criminal or illegal”
I wonder if instead he did something criminal and illegal.
I suppose Democrats will be able to run on a campaign promise to “drain the swamp” in 2028.
The whole “weaponization of the law” (Lawfare) framing is a real time saver, isn’t it?
No more painstaking research by some John Woo type to provide legal justification for wrongful acts the state wants to just go ahead and do. None of that tiresome cover-up activity, to avoid being caught in criminal behavior. None of the fancy lawyering to get charges dropped for entrapment or wrongful search by an overzealous prosecution. Just skip right ahead to being to either “guilty but what are you going to do about it” or “not guilty by reason of opposition party unfairness.”
@Scott F.:
I prefer the artistry of the hand-crafted bald-faced lie. Here’s a sample of what they took from us:
– Handing political opponents bags of cash is the type of governmental waste fraud and abuse that this administration is committed to stopping. It’s appalling that the Biden administration was doing this.
– Homan was part of a study on Universal Basic Income.
– This was his income tax return, part of the great Trump Tax Plan that Joe Biden was trying to destroy. It’s appalling how many Americans didn’t get their bags of cash, particularly working class and minorities in swing states.
– Homan was working with a group of FBI agents to find people trying to bribe the incoming Trump administration. The incompetence of the Biden administration meant that two separate sting operations collided. Kash Patel and Don Bongino have put in place safeguards to ensure this can never happen again.
Perhaps someone needs a 2024 IRS audit?
@Richard Gardner:
Sadly that might be the only real way to get him. Especially given the Supreme Court’s continual raising of the bar on what constitutes bribery. See for example:

@Matt Bernius:
We can dispense of all notions that Homan (or any of his running buddies) will get got. Trump 2.0 is above the law and to even point this out is characterized by the administration as oppositional whining and/or political underhandedness.
Bribes. A friend of mine (tech PhD) works internationally and he says foreign officials are now asking for “considerations” that formerly he could easily say no, I can be prosecuted in the USA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977). Trump said American firms were at a disadvantage but the reality is it is costing more (baksheesh, or in Spanish La Morbida). He’s traveled to probably a third of the counties in Africa in the past 10 years, plus South America, often far from the Capitols or major cities – like Curitba Brazil (semi-famous for its BRT but you have to be a transportation geek to know that). BTW, he says he wants to return to Namibia to visit, but few other places in Africa (he’s OK on South Africa) – he’s seen these countries away from the tourist destinations.
Obvious corruption, no longer (as) hidden.
