Noah Berlatsky is in serious need of an editor.
It looks like grandstanding by Chad Bianco to gain visibility among MAGA. However, it’s grandstanding with a corrosive effect.
This is a classic playbook. Make a big fuss about “starting an investigation”. It’s even better if Democrats howl with outrage. Many months later, when you haven’t found anything, close the investigation after the primary is over. Move on to some other drama.
However the corrosive effect on trust is done, and will continue to accumulate. We are in an epidemic of lying. I’m not actually sure whether Trump is cause or symptom.
