I have not yet read the Bulwark piece, but there have been a lot of stories about Hegseth and Christian Nationalism in the news, which should bring public attention to how many of the people in Trump’s orbit are Christian Nationalists.
Here is a piece that, if you scroll down, has a long discussion of how much Hegseth thinks the Crusades are a model of how military operations should be conducted, which seems problematical for a Secretary of Defense.

Mika Brzezinski confirms that Morning Joe has gone into full supplication mode and more “both-siderism” will be forthcoming.
I am not really surprised Syria collapsed so quickly. It’s reminiscent of Afghanistan where the military wasn’t really willing to fight for the government it was part of. Anyway, while the military wasn’t willing to fight for the govt that left I doubt the new govt will be any better.

@steve:
I’d assume an established state’s military could whoop an insurgency just on equipment, firepower, and logistics alone. It appears Syria’s military just noped out. Yeah, nah. That sort of screams that the Assad regime had lost all internal support mechanisms.
I know very little on this, but it seems to be a big loss for Putin / Russia in the region. And for Iran.
Re Mika’s groveling apology: My gawd. ‘We cover the news differently than FOX News (sic) and that’s a debate we should have’. WTF. Reporting honestly is open to debate? (Not to imply that’s what Joe Scarborough ever did. In ’16 I’d watch, for lack of anything else, while I dressed for work. He had Trump on the phone seemed like every day.) We do find ourselves in a post-modern world.
And, ‘there are good people at FOX’. Echoes of “Good people on both sides”. I suppose I should be understanding. If MSNBC continues to do poorly, Mika and Joe may need jobs.
@gVOR10:
Mika and Joe always needed new jobs. It’s basically The View. Anyone who abandons their ideals and principles to stay relevant-yeah, no.
