“Now They Are Allowed to Do Whatever the Hell They Want”
Authoritarian instructions from Trump.

To follow on from my post this morning.
I am not going to try to figure out what he is talking about in terms of the spitting issue. It sounds like a weird combination of maybe something that happened at some protest and the way the King’s Guard at Buckingham Palace is supposed to behave (i.e., stand there and not break, no matter what people say).
The notion that for years we have had a repeated spitting crisis is absurd.
And while I do not condone spitting on anyone, as with all things, responses need to be just and appropriate. Basically telling law enforcement to give in to their anger (remind you of anyone?) and do “whatever the hell they want” is not the responsible way for a president to speak.
If one of my kids spat in their brother’s face, there would have been consequences, but I wouldn’t have told the one son who got spat at to beat down his brother.
Of course, this is the man who pardoned the J6 rioters who attacked police. It is fine, you see, when the violence is done on Trump’s behalf. That is not a glib statement, but a chilling reminder of reality.
Anyone who is honest with themselves will note that Trump only cares about police when they are doing what he wants them to do (which is the way he treats everyone).
This is plain and simple authoritarianism.
Don’t think that some of members of law enforcement who do, in fact, want to give in to their anger and unleash violence aren’t aware of who holds the power to pardon.

That image, that cosplay is hilarious. I can’t imagine any way of Trump being made more ridiculous than those pictures. Dictators usually run around in pseudo military outfits with numerous medals and ribbons. Putin has bare chested photos on horseback; let’s get a bare chested Trump. It would be ludicrous if it were real. Don, thanks for the laugh.
I don’t think cops are being held back from beating up anybody who spits on them now. You have to be pretty stupid to think that’s the case.
I also think that the lack of material Trump has makes him connect with his base. It’s the banality of it all. A homeless guy caused a scene, someone was disrespectful to a cop. If you encountered a homeless guy ranting, nothing happened to you. If you’re a cop and somebody tells you off, nothing happened to you. But nothing happens to them in their lives, and nonetheless they’re angry and resentful as if something did happen. The problem can’t lie within one’s own head. That means everyone who has told you off in your life is right, and that’s impossible.
The Trump base voted for Trump because he projected brute force. So I’m certain that Trump’s base completely supports him on the temporary federalized DC takeover, afterall it’s a ‘libtard’ city.
@Slugger:
That image, like most Taco images, are a good substitute for an emetic.
How anyone can look at that image and not burst into sardonic laughter escapes me.
The GOP has always worshipped the image of the tough guy and after years of watching WWE Trump knows how to project that image to his cult (of personality) members. If you arent in the cult it just sounds like some old guy at a bar ranting. Ultimately, he just does this stuff because the can. There is no one to stop him. Imagine your crazy uncle given the power to carry out his wishes. That’s what we have.

In the mind of fervent nationalists, “spitting” likely would trace back to the Viet Nam war era, where troops returning after serving were reported to be spat upon in airports.
Could that have happened? Sure, it may have… But as a visual to motivate nationalists it was gold. (spit on troops, spit on flag, dirty hippies, commies, etc.)
Repeated over and over on right-wing radio it became a more ingrained trigger than the”Welfare Queen” fairytale.
And here we are now: Either your with us or against us, and if you are against us then violence is justified because we have been too nice for too long.
.
Shall we start a betting pool for when the Dem party and membership is made illegal?
I’ll take six months out before midterms.
Born of a seriously malignant personality disorder. When do we humans advance enough in our understanding of ourselves, that we formulate limitations on leadership to forestall the coalescing of power and mental dysfunction?
Do the, “It’s not a clip, it’s a magazine, you ignorant libturd.” crowd notice he’s got a rocket propelled grenade stuck in the barrel of what looks to be an M-60ish machine gun?
