I’m surprised that we are all surprised. We knew what the Trump-MAGA movement was capable of, we heard them speak their agenda, we understood their motives were twisted. And here we are.
I didn’t seriously think even the project 2025 scum would bypass and usurp Congress so blatantly, or that Congress would just lie there and take it. Nor that they’d ignore court rulings.
The time factor in what is happening does not get enough recognition. Yes, the US is in debt, but it didnt happen overnight and it wasn’t an emergency, certainly not by looking at the bond market. What we are seeing is fast and sloppy that cannot possibly be focused on efficiency. It’s also cruel. What’s the point in firing someone who has been working for 20 years with good work reviews and only give them 45 minutes to clear their office. It’s more about performative cruelty as red meat for the core Trump supporters (cult).
It’s been forever. The first term was forever. We just need to remember that four years of this will be an eon! That’s a lot of time to be on the defensive. )-:
@steve: “ What we are seeing is fast and sloppy that cannot possibly be focused on efficiency. It’s also cruel.”
Well stated.
Results from yesterday’s Quinnipiac poll seem to indicate that this does appeal to core supporters, but not the majority of voters: “trump’s handling of…the federal workforce:”
41 percent approve
49 percent disapprove
10 percent not offering an opinion
BTW, since the Jan 29 poll, voters who approve of the way he is handling his job as president have dropped from:
46 percent approve/43 percent disapprove
to:
45 percent approve/49 percent disapprove
So +3 to -4 in three weeks, and the outrageous sh!t keeps happening.
As of noon on Thursday, Trump will have been president for 31 full days.
He will have spent all or part of 16 of those days at four Trump Organization properties. He will have played golf on 10 of those days. He will have spent 19 nights at the White House and 12 nights at properties owned by his private business. He will have spent precisely zero Friday or Saturday nights at the executive mansion. He will have played golf every weekend day except for this past Sunday, when he opted to take the presidential limousine for a spin at Daytona International Speedway instead.
And they want me to be scandalized because Biden got old while in office and his administration hid his inability to “discharge the powers and duties of his office” from the American people by slyly accomplishing more in four years than any other president in my lifetime.
And remember, during the last month, Trump was still waiting to get all his appointments in place. Imagine the next 30 days with a full staff in place.
@JKB:
Dude, what does tha diaper smell like when you get your face that far up his ass?
He’s was going to bring down consumer costs, Day One. Has not happened.
He was going to end the Ukraine War in 24 hours. Hasn’t happened.
But he has proven, beyond all doubt, that Elon Musk cannot read and/or analyze a database to save his life.
@JKB: Interesting, my sense is that they have exhausted their pre-game prep. They will now be playing it by ear.
My sense is that all these appointments are there primarily to float trial balloons and not say anything that contradicts or fact-checks Trump, who wants free rein for his lies. All the substance, which means all the credit, for “doing things” has to go to Trump.
I could be wrong. It could go like you say. That’s not how I would bet, though.

@Scott F.: Exactly.
1 down, 47 to go!

OMG, are you saying it’s going to get worse? How much more on fire can a dumpster get?
