OTB vs. Eschaton on Garofalo
I’ve been invited to appear on “The Majority Report,” Janeane Garofalo’s daily talk show on Air America Radio. According to the producer,
Every week, we have a lefty blogger on the show. Starting the week of August 16th, we’re going to have daily blogger debates betweeen bloggers on the left and bloggers on the right.
The fact that I told them up from that I’ve never heard Garofalo’s show didn’t bother them. The blogger vs. blogger debate is an intriguing idea. While writing and broadcasting are decidedly different media, I’m surprised more shows aren’t using bloggers in this manner. Not only does it expand the potential pool of knowledgable guests tremendously, it’s also excellent free advertising.
At any rate, I’m scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Thursday the 19th. The scheduled “lefty blogger” is Duncan Black, a/k/a “Atrios” of Eschaton. It should be fun.
UPDATE: It’s now Wednesday the 18th.
Oh, I want to hear that. What stinks is that I’ll probably be visiting my sister and new nephew at the hospital since he’s scheduled to be delivered on the 18th. I’m making note, just in case I get a chance to listen.
Interesting. I don’t think we can get that here in L.A.
Be warned, though: Garofalo is the cowardly witch who debated our local radio talk show host Larry Elder, and then called him a “House Negro” and a “douchebag” other times when he wasn’t on to defend himself. She didn’t have the guts to say any of it to his face, probably because she knew he’d make her look foolish.
So be careful. This woman may well decide to insult you after you’ve left.
You’ll lose.
You have ethics.
I can see why they would do something like this. You’ve got to have something to bump ratings at night, because the 8 p.m. hour is definitely not prime radio time. In fact, I don’t know anyone who listens to talk radio at that time of night. 11 p.m. and after, yes, but not the prime time TV hours.
Too bad you will only be heard by 22 people and 3 cats.
I wonder what kind of audience they get. Garofalo is a big name but the show isn’t available in most markets. Indeed, for a left-leaning talk network to not be on any DC affiliate is mindboggling. It’s available on both of the major satellite radio systems (XM and Sirius) but I don’t have either of them and, if I did, it would be in my car not my home.
Oh well, nice knowing you, James. 🙁
This is a setup. Duncan and Garofalo will switch to accusations of racism the moment you start making points. After all, look at what Black said about Glenn Reynolds.
