Put simply, Vought and Project 2025 have the space to recommend policy proposals in part because Trump is disinterested in the subject. Trump’s dismissals of Project 2025 as not reflective of his priorities are viewed by Project 2025’s authors as insincere, but they’re also obviously hollow because Trump would simply elevate many of them to government positions where they could implement their agenda without Trump’s needing to weigh in. That’s often how it worked when Trump was president.

Re Trump’s understanding of oceans, as I commented on the original article, if they start down the path of “Does Trump understand X?” it’s slippery slope, there’ll be no end to it.

It would be interesting to see a Civil War movie focusing on James Longstreet and his assertions that Lee was screwing up the attack at Gettysburg.
Also, they dumped The War of the Worlds? I don’t recall that the Martians were crossdressing. H.G. Wells was a socialist, of course, and “The Time Traveler” is pretty woke.

Well, Dr T, in order on the first few:

    1. DN/DC
    2. I’m shocked, shocked I say, to discover that business puts their thumb on the scale to benefit themselves.
    3. Well duh! Live boy/dead girl wouldn’t change their position. Stump uber alles!
4,5,6. Not sure this is “news” or a “surprise” to anyone here, but still confirmed my thoughts on the topics
7,& 10 see above. How is anyone who has heard Trump in the past be surprised?
    8. How on earth did Vance get a job writing anywhere that wasn’t the National Enquirer?
    9. Ugh. I’m disgusted.

Finally, Trump isn’t disinterested in policy, he’s disinterested in anything that isn’t about him, or doesn’t directly benefit his wallet, as he’s demonstrated throughout his life.

Apologies if I bollixed up numbers. Luddite’s fingirs not working today.

Yep I screwed up numbers biggly. Skipped civil war. I’d love to see it, but won’t happen in my lifetime. But then again, I’ve thought Sherman’s march made military sense.

    Misremembered quote removed for civility.

  5. gVOR10 says:

@Flat Earth Luddite: Not sure why you wouldn’t think Sherman’s March made sense. The war in the West was effectively over, quickest way for Sherman to get his army to the East was to march there, and he was right that the Confederates couldn’t effectively oppose him. Grant, in the Vicksburg Campaign, had shown the army could cut loose from it’s supply line for awhile. Hood had headed north in Sherman’s rear, but Sherman was confident Thomas could handle Hood, which he did, decisively. It took just over a month to reach and take Savannah. From there, with supply by sea, he turned north up the coast, forcing Johnston’s surrender on the way, and pressuring Lee in Richmond. Sherman demonstrated the U.S. Army could go wherever they wanted and the rebels couldn’t do anything about it. It was risky, but it sure worked.
