Seat 29E Really Stinks

The gang at 22words feature an “Amusingly pissed-off letter to Continental Airlines about a seat by the lavatory” written back in 2005.

via Laura Seay, who pronounces this “The greatest complaint letter to an airline EVER.” It’s hard to say that with any confidence, given how few airline complain letters I’ve read. Suffice it to say, I don’t think this individual will make the mistake of booking seat 29E again.

    Just coming off 5 weeks of book tour, I will just say, amen and hell yes. F-ck every domestic US airline except for Virgin and Jet Blue. United, American, Delta, you people can’t go belly-up soon enough to satisfy me.

    You do realize that if they do, you’ll be making your next book tour on Greyhound, right? ;>

    I once was on a non-stop, LAX to Dulles, in the last available seat (last minute travel). I know it was the last seat, cause it was the last row in the middle seat. And not only was it my bad luck to have the last seat, the two guys sitting on either side of me took up not only their seats, but most of mine. When I got off the flight, my white shirt had perspiration stains, and they weren’t from me.

    Worst flight ever.

    @Stormy Dragon:

    This is why Virgin and Blue must grow.

    My wife and I just flew to England a couple of weeks ago. On a recommendation from a friend we flew with Lufthansa, and we were very well taken care of.

    I had the worst flight of my life on Lufthansa IAH to FRA. In fairness it wasn’t Lufthansa’s fault that the German sitting next to me not only invaded my space physically but also must have had some serious stomach problems.

    I threw away the return ticket and booked on Continental.

    @rodney dill: The international carriers are generally better. But, then, so are international flights. Virgin Atlantic is phenomenal and I’ve had good experiences with Lufthansa, KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines), and even Air Jamaica.

    Actually, United/Continental Business Class to/from Shanghai is excellent. Better than Singapore Airlines (Gasp!) for this middle aged 6’1″ tall guy.

    My personal favorite domestic airline is Frontier Airlines.
