Today’s Front Pages

How they're covering it.

Here are the front pages of the three major national papers:

And one of the more prominent conservative-leaning papers:

The New York Post is not archived.

The Los Angeles Times, perhaps surprisingly, is focused entirely on the fires engulfing their community.

The degree to which both NYT and WaPo are underplaying what’s already happened, after years of warning about the threat to democracy a second Trump term posed, is . . . interesting.

First and foremost, the media is a business.

Such lies the key problem with a free press.

Just as Biden issued pre-emptive pardons out of fear of reprisals, so are these cowards afraid of reprisals.
Trump is not Hitler but, as with Hitler, controlling the press is a key step in authoritarian takeover.

It’s odd, what with Trump issuing executive orders deleting an entire amendment to the Constitution and declaring he is not bound by laws Congress sets out, you’d think that one Democrat somewhere in the world would have something to say about all this. But at least from reading the Times, not one such unicorn exists.

So, has the stable rapist solved the LA fires yet?

  8. al Ameda says:

So, ‘birthright citizenship’ Section 1 of the 14th Amendment is no longer operative?
    Good to know.

What’s the over/under on this Supreme Court ruling that the birth right citizenship was originally intended to apply only to enslaved people?

@Rob1: The wide brim of the hat prevented Trump from kissing her. I think she hates him, almost as much as she hates many of the same people he hates, and it was a defensive hat.

I thought her outfit was great, and that’s about the only positive thing I can say about the entire inaugural thing.
