Weblog Award Winners 2008
Well, the official results are in and, as expected, OTB didn’t win as Best Major Blog, an honor which went to mommyblog c jane enjoy it. In truth, we have more “Authority” than traffic and never stood much of a chance; we were, thankfully, spared the indignity of a last place finish.
Congrats to OTB alumnus and top Canada blogger Kate McMillan’s small dead animals, which narrowly beat out Ace of Spaces HQ for Best Conservative Blog in what had to be the most hotly contested race.
Andrew Sullivan’s The Daily Dish, Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight, Michael Yon, The Volokh Conspiracy, Michael J. Totten, and Tim Blair are all regular reads who won their categories. Congrats to all.
The complete list follows:
Now’s a good chance for me to put in a plug for this site, Arts & Letters Daily. It’s not really a blog, but more a clearing house for articles, books, and essays. If you’ve never visited it, do — I think most readers of OTB will enjoy it.
As to the awards themselves, well, shoot. That OTB didn’t make it, nor Dave Schuler’s Glittering Eye, nor Alex Knapp’s Heretical Ideas, nor any one of a number of the blogs that get cited here only tells me that the awards are, with a few exceptions, less than adequate in capturing the quality that’s out there. TANJ!
Thank you, sam. That’s very kind of you.
Most of the blogs I read weren’t even nominees, and none were winners. My reading list is very libertarian-heavy, though. And you know what a large voting bloc we are.
