I will try to stomach this, to see if they surprise me.
“Could he mean that the federal government is the parents and the people are the children? But America is about individuals and limited government!”
“Lol Obama got a stimulus [that was too small and included unnecessary tax cuts] but unemployment is still high! He failed! We need less taxes and government!”
This is in the first two minutes, so naturally I stopped the video and will continue to veto every attempt by CATO to inflict more self-righteous hectoring on me.
Doug, shame on you for failing to criticize their lame and essentially religious critique.
I NEVER trust libertarians. That video showed me why – they are basically members of a secular religion.
State of the Union speeches are nothing more than political stump speeches, especially after a midterm election when party loyalists need to be rallied, reassured, whatever. Same holds for the “official” response. They’re both straight out a campaign’s talking points — all rhetorical garbage and presumption.
The only thing I ever want to hear from a President’s mouth during the SotU is, “We’re doing awesome, and there’s nothing the government is going to do about it.”

Oh yeah, get government out of the way and let the free markets solve everything. That always works.
