   What I want to know is why our Marine batallions don’t have cool names like “Plus Ultra” and “Coldstream Guards.” Rummy should get to work on this, pronto.

   Good point. Plus, the numbers connote a sense of heirarchy. Are the 4th Marines less good than the 1st?

   Just calling them Marines is enough. That by itself implies that you just don’t screw around with these guys.
