OTB Late Night

"Election Day"

Less purposeful than last week, but thematically on point (well, kind of). Plus, I like the song.

Good pick. Besides, any day with Lyle Lovett in it can’t be completely awful.

ETA – glad to know I’m not the only one who can’t sleep.

Count me among those liking this song.

It seems to me like country music is slowly losing its political affiliation with the right. For instance, Lady B and Sheryl Crow have done a fair bit of country music. When I was young, country had some people with a right-wing message (I’m an Okie from Muskogee, Stand By Your Man), but it wasn’t exclusive. Creedence Clearwater Revival was very close to being a country band, but with a very left-leaning message, for instance. But then it became part of a political identity.

    I dunno, maybe I’m wishcasting?
