OTB Server Issues

OTB and especially our Gone Hollywood sideblog have been getting swamped with traffic the last couple of days and it’s quite literally overheating our dedicated server. We had an outage yesterday afternoon and are operating quite sluggishly now and it’s not even 9 a.m. on the East Coast yet, which means the peak traffic is yet to come.

Mark Jaquith has implemented a workaround that seems to be helping but we’re getting something on the order of 100,000 hits and 20,000 unique visits and hour right now and even our robust server is having trouble keeping up with it.

UPDATE: It’s 4:15 and the server has been down most of the day and Mark has been out of pocket. I managed to get very limited functionality restored but the site’s all but inaccessible. Hopefully, we’ll get it sorted out soon.

UPDATE: King of Fools has stepped in to bandage the situation. I can’t guarantee that the server won’t go down again but we’ve got a fighting chance now.
