Via the Des Moines Register: Texas’ Rick Perry starting to feel ‘called’ to run for president
“I’m not ready to tell you that I’m ready to announce that I’m in,” Gov. Rick Perry told The Des Moines Register. “But I’m getting more and more comfortable every day that this is what I’ve been called to do. This is what America needs.”

Translation: Palin is a joke, Bachmann can’t go the distance, and Romney will be vulnerable to some none-too-subtle Mormon-baiting. Perry to take Bachmann’s role as quasi-religious figure and make it an evangelical vs. Mormon throw-down.
Beat Romney with religious prejudice and some judicious race-baiting to make sure “the base” retains that for the general. And of course by getting to Romney’s right you force Romney to flip and flop some more, feeding the narrative of Romney as a man of no fixed principals. Then in the general start talking about the “Texas miracle.”
He’s smart to get in. If he does he’ll probably get the nomination.
“…I’m getting more…comfortable every day that this is what I’ve been called to do.”
Called!?!
Is this a very slightly veiled reference to some supernatural intervention? If he thinks God is directing him to throw his halo.., er hat into the ring, he should let us all know.
Or maybe his sycophants are speed dialing his cell phone.
On another matter What Will President Perry Do (W2P2Do?) when Texas succeeds from the Union?
..secedes from…
Am I blind yet?
Kind of reminds me of this statement:
I guess Perry must think it’s a good idea to make sure everyone notices the similarities between him and another Texas governor who ran for president.
