Senator Insufficiently Concerned

Collins gotta Collins, I guess.

Stuff like the following is a great example of why Senator Collins’ act of being some kind of above-it-all moderate is nonsense. She knows full well why her colleagues asked Clayton about the 2020 election, and she is also aware that the previous DNI, Tulsi Gabbard, was on the scene for election investigations in Georgia, making the question of election conspiracies and the ODNI a wholly relevant connection.

She likewise does her own version of the loyalty test by echoing that Biden was certified in 2020.

  1. Collins song and danced worked perfectly well with Republicans for years, those who were concerned about the direction of the Republican party but were unable or unwilling to see what was really happening. Given her age, it’s pretty unlikely she’s going to try something new at this point.

Trump’s enablers – like Collins – are worse than he is because, in a phrase, they know better. They know Trump is unstable and unfit, and they know the people he appoints are unfit. For her to claim she is untroubled by the kabuki all of these appointees perform is a reflection on HER fitness for the “advice and consent” part of her job as a Senator. The erstwhile appointees know they will lose Trump’s backing if they say Joe Biden won the election, so they won’t say it. Collins and her ilk know that if someone like Clayton will not admit the obvious for fear of displeasing Trump, they will put pleasing Trump ahead of any other obligation of the office they seek, including the duty to “support and defend the constitution….” THAT’s why the question is asked, Susan.

  3. Classic abusive relationship. No matter how many times Fatso does her wrong she just keeps running back to him!

  4. Unconcerned Susan Collins: “Look, if Brad Raffensberger had just ‘found’ those 11,780 votes that Trump was looking for, you wouldn’t be asking these questions about DNI.”

  5. At this point, I wonder who Collins thinks won the 2020 election. Given that Trump is trying to call the outcome into doubt, I think all Republican senators need to be asked.
