I have a hard time with the “illegal aliens take jobs from Americans”. If you are willing to work at the same job, as hard and at the same wage as the illegal alien, then speaking the language and not being illegal should give you a definite boost in getting hired.
Now does the availability of lower cost labor reduce wages, especially at the low end? Absolutely. But there is a big difference between taking jobs and lowering wages.
yaj: True enough, although I’d say that it would be impossible for taxpaying Americans to compete with those being paid under the table.
Regardless, the point of the ‘toon is the absurdity of professional athletes’ complaints about their salary using terms that ordinary workers do.
