Bruce Jenner and Dog The Bounty Hunter Come Out

Bruce Jenner has come out to Diane Sawyer admitting what most had already suspected: that he’s Republican and a Christian. Meanwhile, Dog the Bounty Hunter has endorsed Hillary Clinton for the presidency.

The collective minds at the Daily Caller and Fox News are officially blown.

I watched a half hour of the Diane Sawyer interview last night. It was quite touching.

I can only be dimly imagine what Jenner’s situation would be like. When I was a poor stripling, I lived in scrappy, working class inner-city nabes. Trans folk were not unknown and were generally treated just like everybody else. And this was the 80s. So I would live in south Minneapolis and then take the bus a mile and a half to work downtown where co-workers who commuted in from the outer ring suburbs would be scandalized.

There is a distinct difference in the life experiences of city folk, suburban folk, and country / small town folk. People who only have one one these experiences have a very hard time understanding others who do not share their living situation.

I am glad that we have arrived at a civic situation where people like Jenner are not ostracized (or stoned to death) for acting on their gender misalignment. But Republican and Christian? Totally unacceptable!

Good on Bruce, and I wish him the best of tidings in his transformation.

I have a few friends who have transitioned, and one going through the process. Seeing the peace as they begin to live as they are is absolutely amazing. It takes a lot of courage to undertake such a fundamental change. Society still has a long way to go – look at these transphobic bathroom laws being proposed – but I hope people like Jenner will help the public understand gender identity a little more.

It was a very touching interview and the love he has for his family shone so brightly. I can only hope the rest of his life is happy, living as he wants and needs to.

I do not keep up with the latest news, gossip, and scandals from the world of tv land and Hollywood. I have heard some local chatter about Bruce, but only bits and pieces. I had not heard anything about him in years.
Who can forget Bruce’s amazing and awesome accomplishments in the Olympics! I had posters and Wheatie boxes plastered to the walls in our house, as did many other households: pictures of Bruce celebrating, waving the US flag ! . After that our school track team actually had more members than did the football and basketball teams ! Jenner truly inspired many an athlete. He ranks right in there with other Olympic greats: Jim.Thorpe, Carl Lewis, Owens, Foreman, Kurt Angle, Weismiller, and the 1980 hockey team.He put pride back in this country: people were waving flags like crazy. If anyone deserves the title “Captain America” he does ! Yes, Bruce Jenner is an okay guy all around.
I have watched Dog a few times, usually on Saturday mornings. He seems like a nice, reasonable guy too: tough but caring.
Now we can just wait on Snoop Dog to pull a surprise. That is something about his son signing with UCLA. Now that will be a story to follow.
    “USA ! USA! USA ! “

I think it’s great that Jenner is a transgendered Republican and Christian. Hopefully it can help convince social conservatives that sexual orientation and gender are not about politics but rather about biology.

Is Bruce Jenner still a “he” as everyone else here is referring to him/her as, or has he transitioned to feminine pronouns? I get confused.

I wish him/her the best with his/her transition, even if he/she is a Republican.

Since we are talking about strange bedfellows, what about Reagan quoting Oscar Wilde when asked about gay sex:

“I think I’ll quote Oscar Wilde ‘I have no objection to anyone’s sex life as long as they don’t practice it in the street and frighten the horses.’
