Trump’s Easter Message to Iran
Praise be to Allah, you crazy bastards!

I’ll say this for him: I can’t imagine any other U.S. president posting this message.
Oh, and the responses at Truth Social are, to use 47’s vernacular, batshit insane.

Will it be TACO Tuesday or will he sacrifice gulf energy production and desalination?
A relative sent me a screenshot of Trump’s Easter text. It seemed so over-the-top, I had to verify it myself.
This text, in itself, is an indictment of Trump’s mental health and lack of suitability to lead this nation, to preside over the most power military on earth, acting on every spasmodic whim generated by the multi-pathology that defines his destructive antisocial behavior. It is past time to look to Article 25 for remediation — except given Trump’s NPD dynamic he has surrounded himself with personalities having grave deficiency as well.
Congress needs to act in unison to curb his exercise of military power during this unfolding global catastrophe in Iran. But they, Congress, need to begin by forcing a full disclosure and assessment of Trump’s physical + mental condition. This is imperative.
Current estimates place total number of deaths in Iran at over 3,500, almost half of which are civilian, and include approximately 250 children. The U.S. has lost 13 service personnel, and there are another 30 persons in countries allied with America. Not yet calculated nor discussed, are those who have been impacted by the constriction of the global economy as a result of this ill-advised war initiated by Trump, and without the authorization of Congress as legislated. If this conflict escalates and is prolonged, there will be a collateral body count, as shown by precedent, and for which there tends to be little accounting.
War crimes are happening, now.
Trump needs to be removed from office. Now. Calls for this need to come from all quarters in this nation, and with loud public proclamation.
A particular obligation rests upon those who self-identify as American Christians. Not merely for the timing of Trump’s insane screed at Easter, but certainly punctuated by that. But rather, Trump’s policies, while long antithetical to the values of the Christ, now express as horrific daily violence against civilian populations, and witnessed visually in real time by the entire planet.
Christians everywhere, but particularly in America, have an obligation to openly reject Trump’s war and the heretical extremist “Christian nationalism” that is providing ideological cover. If one identifies as Christian and is reading this comment, understand that the onus is on you, to stand up and make your objection to be heard. Being silent in the face of this level of evil, wrapped around The Cross, is capitulation to that evil.
Faith and religion aside, Americans confronting (or not) this destructive ignorance will determine where this country is headed, and our future viability as a society, as an economic entity, and as a functional global community member. The United States failed to critically examine and hold accountable, the similarly ill-advised, ignorant, regionally destabilizing planners who led us to war in Iraq in 2002 — also based on a series of changing lies. The sins of GWBush and Cheney are being visited upon us today because we did “not draw a line” for ourselves as a nation.
A week ago, OTB considered the most recent No Kings March. Conclusions were offered here that protest marching likely had little impact. I offered a list of identifiable impacts and benefits from these marches. I add one more now: last weekend 8+ million Americans expressed to the world and our long term global partners, that American’s ARE NOT lockstep with Trump’s destructive, denigrating, dismissive, selfish, policies. We reject his corruption, manipulation, and extortion.
It is important that world know, that our global partners see, outwardly manifested humanity from us; that we believe in real moral values and will act on those values. That we have capacity for redemption. After WWII and the exposure of the Holocaust, it was quite a while before the specter of German war crimes, hung less heavily on the German people themselves.
This definitely sounds like ordering war crimes, and any officers who carry out these orders should be wary of their legal exposure (and, you know, the war crimes, if they are anti-war-crime)
I also expect the Iranians have a list of targets chosen for their retaliation, and will be striking the power plants and infrastructure of the countries aiding the US, so it will be war crimes for everyone.
(Or not war crimes, if one wants to claim that the US actions will not be war crimes, or if one wishes to make the case that the retaliation has a military goal that is greater than the humanitarian problems)
@Rob1:
Just because something is necessary is insufficient to make it possible. It’s not just that Amendment 25 needs 2/3 of both houses of Congress, what is worse it needs a majority of the cabinet. Perhaps you have noticed who the cabinet is composed of – na ga hoppen.
Impeachment is actually significantly easier, but it needs to originate in the HOR – this will not happen with Mike Johnson as Speaker.
So no impeachment until January 2027 earliest.
Imagine being so f’ing weak that you think that sounds tough?
