Quote of the Day – HuffPo Edition
“As far as I can tell, the Huffington Post is the Drudge Report for liberals, with a side helping of Star or the National Inquirer for celebutard gossip.” – Balloon Juice’s mistermix
As if to prove the point, here’s the top story on the page at the moment:
Mix is also not particularly fond of the site’s journalistic ethics or HR practices.
She’s been very successful though Jim so we’re not exhibiting a bit envy are we? Just kidding. And then whose ethics in blogland do you respect? Politico’s?
Politico isn’t a blog; it’s a pretty traditional newspaper that’s focuses on the juicy stuff — politics and breaking news.
The Atlantic and Foreign Policy groups do quite well, I think, at showcasing serious content with a minimum of hype.
The Atlantic has it all — serious content AND Megan McArdle!
“Politico isn’t a blog”
Then Huffpo isn’t a blog because their business model is exactly the same. Politico and Huffpo are well financed blogs. If someone came along and put $10 million into OTB you’d be the same.

Unfortunately for Megan some REAL economists have her number and are regularly ripping off her face. It will be interesting to see how long the Atlantic sustains the embarrasments.
