The Hill (“Susie Wiles out, Stephen Miller in, as Trump’s chief of staff“):

President Trump announced Friday that his chief of staff, Susie Wiles, is leaving the White House and longtime advisor Stephen Miller will take her place.

“I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, and one of my most trusted advisors, will become the Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!’

I would have gone in the opposite direction. But doubling down on MAGA is clearly the right takeaway from the election results.

The Hill story, it turns out, is just stenography from Truth Social:

  1. Holy sh!t.

Buckle up folks, this is going to get very bumpy.

ETA: Moving to the Trump Political Operation? Does that mean she just gets to relax and collect a paycheck? Seriously, what does that “arm” do?

    1. Hoover up money.

      1. ‘Dear Patriotic American!

Trump was very sad to learn that you were NOT on the LIST of Patriot Americans last month!………..’

  2. So much for learning the lessons of the election. A huge f-u to Hispanic voters.

    1. This is exactly what “…a cornered Trump is dangerous…” looks like.

  3. Isn’t Miller a Fortress America and bring-all-the-troops-home guy?

    1. A fortress that must be protected from the enemy within, naturally.
This is not good news either for NATO or for other nations in the Americas.

  4. Am I going out on a limb here by saying that There will be no moderating influence or presence in (what’s left of the undemolished) White House?

    1
    1. No.. you’re not.

As Michael Cain points out, the Trump Political Operation is a fundraising group.

  5. I know it’s damning with faint praise, but Wiles was the only person in the WH that exhibited borderline sanity. Miller, ha ha ha…

    1. Perhaps that’s why she was relieved of her duties.

I believe Herr Miller will whip order and discipline into the staff, but he will have to get that right arm under control.

  6. Jeffries said of the Blue Tsunami it’s time to get things done and not to go looking for payback or retribution.

Well, guess what elevating Herr Miller to chief of staff is?

And he has a two month head start.

Here comes rule by Executive Order. Herr Miller will double down on doubling down re the Unitary Executive and ethnic cleansing.

  8. Well, that’s suboptimal.
    To put it mildly.

    1. John, you are a master of British undrstatement.

      1. Stiff upper lip, eh, old boy?
        😉

  9. Miller is already doing most of this in the background, this just removes the one sometimes-buffer between him and Trump.

    What astounds me is this:

    SSRS
How voters rated the importance of each issue to their vote for Congress, 2026 national exit poll:

Government Corruption 55% crucial, 36% major
Cost of living 49% crucial, 40% major
Immigration enforcement 36% crucial, 36% major
War in Iran 34% crucial, 40% major
AI and data centers 23% crucial, 33% major

    Post-election we’ve seen Trump:
    – Give a speech mostly about his ballroom
    – Press to get the arch done
    – Promote Miller

Three days after and it seems like he’s never going to pretend to care about anything again. He’ll pass every political issue to Miller to make decisions, those decisions will be the most repugnant ones possible, and Trump will try to put his brand on everything in DC while raking in max cash. Zero effs given.

    1. That’s very interesting polling.
That corruption was more important than even cost of living, and that ICE and illegal war up there.
It undercuts the current narrative in some quarters that “it was just inflation.”

  10. Susie Willes is just another Trump Grifter™

A former top Trump health adviser accused White House chief of staff Susie Wiles on Joe Rogan’s podcast of putting midterm fundraising ahead of Americans’ health, hours before President Donald Trump announced he was replacing her.

Calley Means, who until last month served as a senior adviser at the Department of Health and Human Services and was a central figure in Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s “Make America Healthy Again” push, said during the two-hour interview that Wiles bowed to “unrelenting” pressure from industry lobbyists, The New York Times reported.

According to the Times, Means said Wiles told him “many times” that “We need money for the midterms, Calley.” When he pushed a policy on sugar in children’s diets, he said, she told him, “I need the sugar industry money.”

And he claimed that any corporation that hired her daughter, lobbyist Katie Wiles, “was getting a high priority.”

On the podcast, Means called Wiles “the most powerful chief of staff in modern American history” and said, “no policy decision gets done without her office giving it the okay.” He claimed the lobbying firm where her daughter works, Continental Strategy, went from almost no revenue to roughly $30 million a year after Trump took office.

“If you’re a special interest and you want to get something done, the secret’s out,” he said. “You pay Susie’s daughter.”

Trump has said he likes Natalie Harper because he knows all the rest of his staff will leave to monetize their contact within the White House, but she will always be with him. He may like Miller for the same reason.

  11. Miller is perhaps the most worrying of all Trump’s acolytes.
(Bannon not being in the inner circle these days.)
He appears not to be in it for the grift or the status, but to be a genuine quasi-fascistic white nationalist.
    He is genuinely scary, imho.

    (Also, defs Nosferatu’s younger cousin.)
    Joking aside, this is worrying.

Also, given Miller is known to be very much pro-Netanyahu, what will this mean for Vance’s attempt to pull back on the Middle East?
    And re Rubio?

    Incidentally, Miller:
“By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland?” Miller asked. “Nobody is going to fight the United States militarily over the future of Greenland.”
Yeah, well, turned out various European countries were willing to threaten just that.
The man is a fool, as well as malign.

  12. Getting all the “illegals” out of America is one of a handful of core political goals that have rattled around in Trump’s head all his public life. Now that his principal preoccupation seems to be the legacy he will leave behind him, he may well have decided to resume and intensify the mass ICE raids and deportations we saw last year. His shrunken base will cheer him on.

  13. If Herr Miller doubles down on mass deportation violence, Democrats will rue the damage to human rights, cost-of-living, and US industry, but thank him for the in-kind donation to their 2028 campaigns.
