John Bolton For President ? Seriously ?

Based on this interview on Fox Business Network, President Bush’s former U.N. Ambassador is apparently thinking about it:

Honestly, I can’t think of anything about Bolton that recommends him for the Presidency. His career prior to being named U.N. Ambassador was basically one of a foreign policy wonk, not a politician. If he does run, he’ll be, at best a C-level candidate who probably has his eye on being named Secretary of State rather than actually winning.

He’ll need a makeover, for one thing. No one with that hair and mustache could ever get elected.

We do live in a media culture and how a candidate comes across on television is a factor in their success.

In Bolton’s case, he has to deal with the fact that no candidate with facial hair has won the Presidency since William Howard Taft in 1908, and no candidate with facial hair has been a major party nominee since Thomas Dewey in 1948

I think we need a more domestic president that knows how to run a country, instead of a foreign policy president. And it is interesting when presidents do their domestic agenda, that they gravitate to foreign policy. Evidently, they think they have achieved their goals on the domestic front.

A bearded lady has a better shot of being elected, and it would have nothing to do with facial hair.

Even at his specialty, he’s something of a joke.  Threatening to bomb a different country every week has got us nowhere.

Bolton as Secretary of State.  Secretary of State? Our head of diplomacy?  It’s like something North Korea would do…

I can’t take Bolton seriously while he overesteems the United Nations by 28 stories.
