I know part of it is that whodunit TV is cheap and easy cable news fodder, but the relative lack of coverage on CNN (the other muted TV in the dining hall) makes for an interesting contrast.

FOX has long had an obsession with missing/dead white girl stories. I think they’ve had at least one piece about the Idaho murders on the website every day since they occurred. They’re still doing stories about Gabby Petito whenever they can find some pretext. (I notice because it’s a local story. Her killer’s parents live about a mile from me.)
