I’m at home, starting my first day of medical leave to recover from surgery. I have 5 new holes in my abdomen, and a sixth that no longer has a tube coming out of it. I was expecting to be in significant pain today, but I’m just a little sore, and feeling rather well.
…Which is going to make up to 4 weeks off work and up to 12 weeks of lifting restrictions really frustrating.

@inhumans99 We took the family (7 of us) yesterday evening. It happened to be our oldest’s birthday, and she’s been a huge Spider-Man fan since childhood.

I finished The Wrong Stuff, a book on the Soviet space program. While I learned a few things, I was disappointed. I more or less agree with this review of it.
I’d add it has little technical info, and delves too much on the hijinks of the first cosmonauts.
What the author doesn’t say, but shows through the narrative anyway, is there was no plan or objective for the USSR’s space efforts. Much the same as there wasn’t one for NASA after Apollo.
I’m now looking for other histories of the soviet era space program.
