  1. Unable to log in as charontwo since many weeks now.

Using google to log in via wordpress, discovered wordpress knows this identity, one I had totally forgot existed.

    1. @golem8eight Weird. I haven’t seen any messages from @charontwo in the Pending or Spam folders. Not sure why you wouldn’t be able to log in.

  2. This reads a bit as if El Taco were on that flight:

“As a parent, this has to be a worst case scenario outcome, because no matter how hard you try, there are some situations where a toddler just can’t be controlled.”

I think if the kid had been about to stroll across a busy street a way would’ve been found.

  3. On Friday I mentioned my experiment with “corn badgers” (corn dogs, but with bratwurst).

Good idea, bad execution. It appears that the oil was too hot and instead of a nice golden-brown and fluffy bread enrobement, I got… a dark brown coffin.

With some refinement, I think it could really work.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with a quart of north-African-spiced cornbread batter before it starts to ferment. 😛

    1. I have learnt something!
I never knew about corn dogs.
Which appear to be a distant relative of the British “toad in the hole”.

      1. My all-time favorite British dish is “spotted dick.” That and “cock-a-leekie soup.” They both sound like STDs.

Apologies in advance if this seems insulting because you are already aware, but careful with brats. Some come uncooked. The hot dogs they usually use to make corn dogs are precooked so there is no worry if the center only gets warm in the deep fryer.

      1. I’m quite aware.

The brats were par-boiled to start with. Cooked all the way through, then browned in a pan, cooled, and finally battered and deep-fried. The deep-fry is only for the batter.

  4. This is the Berri Gas Plant in Jubail, Arabia, which processes associated gas.

It was massively on fire yesterday, many fires all over it, thought to be from Houthi attack.

  5. It would be good if Beth and Becca checked in here.

  6. My wife died early this morning of complications from early-onset dementia. I’ll be offline for a bit.

    1. Oh, Michael, I’m so sorry. My deepest sympathies.

    2. I lost my wife several years ago. I know what it’s like to lose the axis of your life. Both my sympathy and my best wishes go out to you. Take care.
