THE BLOGROLL
I’m gradually weeding the blogroll by removing almost all blogs that refuse to ping Weblogs when they’re updated. Since I sort by “most recent,” I virtually never read those blogs that don’t take this rather simple step.

Am I the only one that gets a lot of errors from the weblogs ping? The pings to blogrolling and others never seem to be a problem, but I constantly get errors when pinging weblogs.
It happens sometimes. I don’t know if it’s a capacity issue or what. But there were some sites on my roll that literally never updated and I just forgot to read. Even major sites like Lileks, den Beste, Oxblog, and some others, don’t do it for whatever reason. Unless I force myself to go to the bottom of the list, I usually find out about a good piece on those sites via a link on an updated site.
James,
Please change your blogroll to reflect my new address…http://theworldaroundyou.com. I am pinging, but most people don’t have the correct address for my site.
Have mercy on us ping-challenged!
I hereby demand affirmative action for the ping-less!
Personally, I plan to solve this problem a different way:
1) Upgrade to the paid version of Blogrolling (as soon as the wife is looking the other way).
2) Set up a second blogroll for the people who don’t ping.
Technology should serve people, not the other way around. I want my technology to make it easy for me to read everybody that I find interesting.
