US government map of Africa mislabels every country at global conference
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/30/government-map-mislabels-african-countries
The map showed Nigeria, where the US currently has several hundred troops deployed, as landlocked in the Sahara desert. Mozambique, which is in south-eastern Africa, was relocated to the Horn of Africa, while Côte d’Ivoire in west Africa was placed on the other side of the continent.
It was, of course, AI generated.
This furthers my belief that AI is an excellent tool when you need to get something done and simply don’t care about the quality of the results.
El Taco is considering to temporarily withdraw Blanch’s nomination until Tillis and Cornyn are out of office.
It would be hilarious if he did, and the the Democrats won the Senate. I don’t know how likely this is, but it’s not impossible.
On the other hand, the US economy grew an astonishingly high 1.5% in the second quarter. remember Besetn or someone in the clown car cabinet promised spectacular growth for this quarter?
Dr. K in his Substack this morning says something I keep saying here.
Do Trump and his followers actually believe these things? As I see it, that’s a category error, starting from the presumption that they even accept that objective facts exist. All the evidence (Hah! “Evidence!”) says that they don’t.
If they admitted that AGW is real, that vaccines work, or that Trump lies their whole world view would crumble. I often put it that for them “true” means true to the faith.
And along that line, I so often see conservatives arguing that religion is necessary to good behavior, or for societal unity, or was inherent in the founding, or something-something, but almost never that it’s true.
What’s the over/under that the administration intentionally mislabeled every country in Africa on the map they used at a conference vs. them using AI, which mislabeled everything?
