CBS News reports: Pentagon identifies 4th service member killed in recent days as U.S. carries out more strikes.

The U.S. military released the name of a third soldier who is believed to have been killed in an Iranian strike on a base in Jordan, and identified a service member who was killed in Iraq, bringing the total number of U.S. deaths since the start of the war to 18.

This news seems relevant to this from yesterday:

Also, I love the notion that Iran is “combat ineffective” and we control the Strait of Hormuz, but that the Iranians are just “recklessly shoot[ing]” at ships as if that isn’t, you know, what happens in war and why the whole situation is a mess and why the war is back on. Granted, I am just some random political scientist, but I would love to see Hegseth explain why shooting at things isn’t part of combat.

    Fatso today claimed to know the thoughts of the four soldiers who died this weekend in his war of choice.

    “They are indeed great heroes, actually. They said, and they, all of them said very strongly, ‘We can’t let, cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon,’” he told reporters before departing to attend a ceremony for four service members recently killed overseas.

    What a despicable lying loser.

    Whatever anyone was willing to say was “the worst” possible result after picking this fight with Iran… Objective reality is already far worse than that.
    Currently among the network of ME bases the US spent 25 years building to shield Israel, only the ones in Jordan and Israel as of today remain fully functional.
    Iran’s targeting has included:
    Suppression of support infrastructure, disruption of logistics& sustainment movements.
    Degradation of ISR capabilities — Without operational radars, none of those fancy missiles work either in offensive or defensive missions.
    Attrition of air defense and interceptor counts.
    Political pressure on all the ME nations.
    We’re currently looking at not just the obvious defeat for the US/Trump but a crushing blow to the US ability to project power in any part of the ME. At some point Trump simply has to surrender and take the L, because each successive “negotiating position” is going to be worse – whether it makes him happy or not.
