CBS News reports: Pentagon identifies 4th service member killed in recent days as U.S. carries out more strikes.

The U.S. military released the name of a third soldier who is believed to have been killed in an Iranian strike on a base in Jordan, and identified a service member who was killed in Iraq, bringing the total number of U.S. deaths since the start of the war to 18.

This news seems relevant to this from yesterday:

Words, I have been told, mean things. But, apparently, not to this administration.

Also, I love the notion that Iran is “combat ineffective” and we control the Strait of Hormuz, but that the Iranians are just “recklessly shoot[ing]” at ships as if that isn’t, you know, what happens in war and why the whole situation is a mess and why the war is back on. Granted, I am just some random political scientist, but I would love to see Hegseth explain why shooting at things isn’t part of combat.
