“American Values”

Maybe this administration’s values, but don’t lump all of us in.

I would say this is part of the dumbest timeline series, but this is beyond dumb and is just gross, if not evil.

BRENNAN: Nidal Hasan is in a wheelchair. Doesn't the administration risk livestreaming this and making him a martyr? Couldn't this be a risk to the homeland?MARKWAYNE MULLIN: No one has to watch itB: Well then why are you livestreaming it?MULLIN: The president is restoring American values

So, which values would those be?

Death as entertainment?

Vengeance?

Bloodlust?

Emulating the worst dictatorship in the world?

These people are just awful.

Also: Mullin says that Trump is the “commander-in-chief of the country.”

No.

He is not.

He is the CINC of the military, but not of the country.

The authoritarian nature of this administration continues to disgust and astound.

  1. I regret to inform you that American Values are not what you think they are, and that we should have been listening to Black folk, queer folk and disabled folk all along. The feminists were a mixed bag.

I think we aren’t seeing a failure of America, but a reversion to the norm, and that some of us — myself included — believed that the brief moment of America as a multiracial, multicultural democracy with a robust middle class and underlying racial tensions was America. It turns out only the racial tensions were America. That and the police beating the shit out of protesters.

They told us. Everything happening now is what they said America was.

Instead, we listened to “reasonable Republicans” talking about Burkean values and white liberals and sometimes, to the shame of us all, white leftists. And we laughed at the racist backwaters that were just behind the times. And we fought the wrong fights, if we fought at all.

A public execution of a brown, Muslim man in a wheelchair? Is there anything more American? At least this one is guilty of more than looking at a White woman.

They won’t sell postcards, like we did in the lynchings of old, but that’s just because we don’t use postcards anymore. They will sell t-shirts, and the images will be everywhere on the internet. It will be a public spectacle that we will be forced to take part in, in order to demand compliance.

Maybe we can make a game of avoiding the images, like the people who compete to see who can go the longest without learning who won the superbowl.

Anyway, my stock is doing pretty good, and I’m tapping this out on an iPad on the patio of a very nice coffee shop in one of the Whitest parts of one of the Whitest cities in America, so I can’t complain.

There is a DSA dipshit sitting on the rock steps, babbling at another dipshit about the Democrat/Republican Uniparty, and I wish they would just shut the fuck up. So I guess I can complain.

I just noticed how similar the words “compliance” and “complaint” are. That’s fun.

  2. MAGA values are no values.

“It’s like, I mean, it’s amazing. When you stand up here, it’s just like, the love. I could say the stupidest things and you’d clap. ‘Oh, I love you so—’ It’s true.”

    1. Trump knows his followers are just brainless zombies.

  3. “Well the firing squad seems to have done the job, Scott. Hasan’s wheelchair is on its side and I can see blood on the ground.”

“Wait a minute, Jesse! Hasan is clawing weakly at his chest! It looks like they missed any vital organs! What happens now?”

“Well Secretary Hegseth’s handout said in the event this happened, Hasan would be despatched with pistol shots to the head. Asked who’d deliver them, he just grinned knowingly. I see him standing now in the bleachers. Is he coming down to do the deed?”

“We’ll know in just a minute. Find out when we’re back live after this important message!”

  4. Netflix alerted me that the Hunger Games would be leaving the streaming service on Oct. 13. I had the movies on in the background this weekend. It is astonishing/alarming how these movies appear to get so much right about authoritarian regimes.

Right down to the televised brutality.

I remember when parents were up in arms about a book depicting exactly what Markwayne is pushing here.

    1. Ditto Handmaid’s Tale
