Anna Nicole Smith died today in Hollywood Florida after being found unconcious in her hotel room at the Hard Rock Cafe.

According to hotel officials, Smith was “unresponsive” and emergency responders performed CPR at the scene and a breathing apparatus was inserted in her throat. Anna was immediately transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood just after 2:00 PM EST.

WFOR-TV in Miami reports that Anna was found unresponsive in her hotel room. Local streets were closed off to rush Smith to the hospital, three miles away. Paramedics were seen pumping her chest as she was taken from the hotel.

UPDATE (James Joyner): Allie has more coverage at Gone Hollywood. Truly sad news. The woman was only 39 years old and lost her teenage son just months ago.

    It is sad. I only hope her adversary in the long legal battle keeps his mouth closed.

    Don’t forget that she recently gave birth to a child just a few months ago also.

    The gentleman she was in the estate lawsuit over 400+billion died last june/july so he’s a moot point.

    Both of their survivors, (Smith and the billionaire family) will likely have to come to some agreement. Remember Anna Nicole had a baby girl, and so I’m sure her lawyer friend/boyfriend/companion/whatever will “hopefully” have her best interests at heart.

    It’s a sad tragedy, but one that I think should shed light upon reckless abandonment of self control as it relates to her “extra-curricular” drug/alcohol, and other habits.
