Hump Day Tabs

Let me be clear: I’m not offended in any sense other than I’m offended at Rogan’s laziness and cruelty. Because that’s what this entire joke is, a lazy riff on naughty words that, allegedly, people are “no longer allowed to say.” It’s bigotry as victimization. And, like Rogan, it’s stupid.

Just as Rogan’s schtick was already tired when he first achieved mainstream success, his current “white dude pity party” is just as tired now. We get it, Joe. White dudes want to be able to make fun of trans people and Black people and Asians and whoever they set their little eyes upon – not because they have a point to make – but because Mommy told them no and it makes them sad.

With respect to the 162 lies and distortions, the MAGAs at Lucianne.com and Townhall.com say that NPR pointing them out just proves that NPR is in the tank for Harris.

From the LGM tab: Tim Walz and Holocaust education.

Walz’s decades-long commitment to making sure students learn something about these things, first in his own classroom, and eventually in the state where he became a member of Congress and then governor, is both a very good thing in and of itself, and a sign of what an interesting and remarkable person he is — the precise opposite of the legions of empty suit credential mongers who infest national politics, while displaying a passion for practically nothing other than their own personal ambitions.

To also quote Journey, there is no such thing as “South Detroit”. South Detroit would be Windsor, Ontario. Steve Perry misinterpreted a street direction sign, apparently. That’s the story, anyway.

There *is* a township in northern South Dakota fairly close to Aberdeen called South Detroit. Unincorporated. No street light people up and down the boulevard. No town, no boulevards, no street lights. Just rural land.

Probably a lot of soy beans and / or sugar beets.

Michael Ian Black is a comedian and writer. Writes a lot with David Wain. You’d know him from The State show, or Wet Hot American Summer, or remember those shows on VH1 back in the early aughts like We Love The 80s! He was a talking head along with Rachel Harris and Andrew W.K.

Chances are you’d def recognize him if you saw him. Lanky, sardonic black haired fella.

The State troupe was stacked. Reno 911! was basically their follow-up show.
