Quote Of The Day: Free Speech Edition
The only thing more shameful than the tragedy in Arizona right now is the reaction of congressional Democrats who are using the attempted assassination of a colleague for the most base of political purposes.
And the real victim here – if they have their way – will be the free speech rights of all Americans.
(…)
Yes, what we really need right now are guys like Brady and Clyburn anointing themselves as arbiters of what can and should be free speech. Now that’s scary!
Frankly we’d rather take our chances with a crazed gunman than with crazed politicians.
I take the point, and agree that it would be unwise to enact speech-inhibiting laws based on this incident, but:
“Frankly we’d rather take our chances with a crazed gunman than with crazed politicians.”
That is an incredibly glib and insensitive thing to say when innocents have just been murdered.
I abhor the obvious riding of victimhood coattails by the Boston Herald!!!
There’s a typo in the date. Or that is an incredibly prescient editorial. But I’m leaning typo.
I’m not seeing too much reaction yet to the news that Peter King is introducing new gun control legislation:
Rep. Peter King, a Republican from New York, is planning to introduce legislation that would make it illegal to bring a gun within 1,000 feet of a government official, according to a person familiar with the congressman’s intentions.
King, as you may know, is the new chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. He’s also a terrorist supporter, but only the Irish kind. He hates them mooslims and thinks they’re all terrorists (but not the kind he likes).
I have to agree.
mantis:
I don’t think King’s legislation will help much. After all, people who intend to do something like this are probably not going to care about such a law, but at least he is not blaming Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin like some of the idiots on the left are.
