To follow on from the furry kerfuffle (furkuffle?), the following caught my attention. Via RawStory: EXCLUSIVE: Close Trump ally admits he doesn’t read — as only his opinion matters.
“No, I read very little,” Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) told Raw Story. “I want my own opinion, not somebody else’s.”
I remember a more innocent time when an aggressively ignorant politician at least lied about how much she read.
This reminds of this headline from The Hill last August: Tuberville says he likes to talk to ChatGPT on long drives.
The Alabama Republican, who’s running for governor, revealed to the Washington Post Friday that he talks with the popular chatbot about questions regarding Medicare and Medicaid. He will also listen as the chatbot’s voice talks back to him in the car.
“It’s kind of like you can sit there and talk to an expert,” Tuberville said. “You don’t know whether or not they’re 100 percent correct. But they put you on the right path.”
Super intelligence, indeed.
Back to the RawStory piece:
“What do you make of Sen. [John] Curtis’ (R-UT) move to try to get [Donald] Trump Jr. in to testify about the Russian wedding donations?” Raw Story asked.
“I didn’t see that,” Tuberville said.
“Oh, yeah? He’s calling your party out. Some people aren’t happy,” Raw Story replied. “Do you have questions about Trump Jr. taking Russian oligarch money?”
“I don’t get into all that,” Tuberville said. “I mean, no reason to talk about anything you don’t know anything about.”
As they say, ignorance is bliss.
