Continuing the revival of OTB music with one of my favorite songs of all time. The title is evocative of the moment, but more than anything, I think this song lowers my blood pressure.

No embed available, here’s the link to the Vince Guaraldi Trio’s “Cast Your Fate to the Wind” from their album, “Jazz Impressions of Black Orpheus” (one of my favorite albums).

An alternative version on piano only by George Winston is also worth a listen.

(I decided that 10 pm EST really isn’t “late night” so changed it to “Friday Night OTB”).

    Sirius satellite radio has a light jazz channel we happened to have on in the car a day or two ago. Somebody did a cover of “Cast Your Fate to The Wind”. My wife and I commented on it being a great tune, but that Guaraldi did it so much better. And here it is. Thanks.

    If anyone needs a laugh, I got fed this channel today, ‘This Aged Great’ where a guy is describing old movies to a friend, while the visual is silent clips of scenes from the movie. The commentary is really funny as they confront 1980s movies with modern sensibilities.

    Paul Westerberg from The Replacements did a weird record in the midst of his solo career attributed to Grandpaboy. Mono is is more rock and punk(ish) than most of his solo stuff. Worth a listen if you are into Teh Replacements or Westerberg.

    Btw, I own the exact same hat Grandpaboy sports on the album cover. It’s a Soviet army conical hat. It was supposed to guard against the cold, but it sucks at that job. It looks cool, though.

    Standout songs are AAA (anything, anyone, anymore), Kickin’ The Stall, 2 Days ‘Til Tomorrow.

    Not a masterpiece, but worth a check. Interesting.

    Grew up listening to my dad’s music…one of his favorites.
    Strongly recommend the Chet Atkins version…excellent…easy to find on interwebs.

    Mel Torme’s version was a top 10 hit in Australia in 1963. I’ve always had a soft spot for it.

    Although he’s more famous for his Peanuts jazz work this hit made the pop charts in the mid-60s. Around the same time as Stan Getz was popularizing Bossa Nova with Jobim and Gilberto with Girl from Ipanema.
