Democrats Have Scandals Too!

Both sides do it!

So, as I peruse the news and think about how to deal with new allegations of rape and Epstein association concerning Trump, the DOJ’s ongoing abuse of power against James Comey, or try to decide exactly how to analytically understand the relentless and ongoing attempts by Trump and his allies to undermine faith in American democracy, I feel compelled to note that Democrats are pretty awful as well.

First, Barack Obama made a joke about Trump having “the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory” (via the NYT: Obama’s ‘Cheesecake Factory’ Jab Rankles Trump on Mississippi Campaign Stop). This has apparently hurt the feelings of a lot of MAGA types who are especially offended on behalf of the Cheesecake Factory, or something. Why, billionaire Scott Bessent (who also is the Secretary of the Treasury) dined there to show what a down-to-earth fellow he is! But wait, there’s more!

Politico has quite the exposé on Zohran Mamadani! Mamdani is using NYPD gym to host pickup basketball games with friends.

I mean, what’s next? Corrupt crypto deals? Will his kids get sweetheart drone deals? Will he use city police to cordon off the block for a stickball game?

No wonder people think that all politicians are corrupt!

    I’ll give Trump this – he sure has made both-siding harder to pull off with a straight face. The usual suspects are still going to try with all their hearts, because it is so much easier to say the opposition is just as bad than to explain how the obviously corrupt and vile is actually good. But, at least they have to work harder at it now.

    All corruption should be criticized and not marginalized. Democrats have plenty of scandal’s (Sheila McCormick, Henry Cuellar, Bob Menendez). I do think there is a difference in how parties react to them. If there is a miracle and the Dems take both houses, I hope they go after all the scandals with vigor, but I’m afraid they will do what they do and say they don’t want to divide the country.
